Foster Parent Training Classes

At Seven Homes, we believe preparation is an act of love. Our comprehensive pre-licensing training equips prospective foster parents for the rewarding journey ahead, not just through information but through relationship and connection.

You will receive nationally recognized, trauma-informed training through TIPS-MAPP (Trauma-Informed Partnering for Safety and Permanence – Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting), NTDC (National Training and Development Curriculum), TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), and Deciding Together. These programs provide both practical skills and deep insight into how to support healing and growth for children and youth in care.

We offer classes in a variety of formats including in-person and hybrid options to meet your family’s needs and learning style.

This training is about more than meeting a requirement. It is an opportunity to begin your journey with us—a space where you will get to know Seven Homes, and we will get to know your heart for fostering. Together, we will explore whether fostering is the right fit for your family.

Through interactive sessions and meaningful connections, you will gain the tools, confidence, and understanding needed to help children feel safe, valued, and truly at home. Because fostering is not just about providing care; it is about offering belonging, hope, and healing.

Want to Host?

We’re always happy to bring a Foster Parent Training Class to your organization—right at your location! Whether it’s a church, school, business, or community group, we’d love the opportunity to share our training and help license members of your community to become foster parents.
We kindly ask for a minimum of five families to participate in the training.

Have Questions?

We are here to help answer any questions you may have.  No question is a bad question when it comes to deciding if your family is ready to foster.

Visit FAQ Page
  • What Does It Cost To Foster?

There is no direct fee to foster one of NC's waiting children. However, there are fees related to becoming a licensed foster family, like paying for background checks, CPR, and fingerprints.

  • Is There an Income Requirement?

Foster care is not seen as income, so you must be able to pay your bills and sustain your household and family, separate from your foster care stipend.

  • Are There Background Check Requirements?

State law requires NC criminal record checks going back five years. If you have lived in NC for less than five years, you must obtain out-of-state background checks.
